If you cannot locate the missing original cable, obtain a new PSU. Modular cables do not work with different model PSUs. Incorrect cables may harm or destroy connected hardware.

I need an 8-pin connection for the PSU on one side and an 8 + 4 or 4 + 2 cable to the motherboard on the other side, suitable for my AX PSU. I’m sure there’s something available...

Only cables that match your particular power supply model are acceptable.
Using the wrong or incompatible cable may damage your computer.
Please proceed with caution.

Prior to this, I used an 8-pin cable for the PSU on one side and another 8-pin cable for the motherboard on the other. This setup has remained functional since I purchased it, without needing the additional 4-pin connection. Why has it stopped working now? Additionally, replacing the PSU is challenging because the cables have changed connections that no longer match my motherboard, potentially forcing me to upgrade my entire system if incompatible cables are required.

You're missing the 8 pin connection. Are you sure this is the identical motherboard to the previous one?

Since you're attempting to fit a PCIE 8-pin connector into an EPS 12V 8-pin socket.
It has already been discussed that they don't work together.

I've placed this cable order:
The Lord of the Tools CPU 8-Pin Male to CPU 8-Pin Male (4+4 Removable) EPS 12V Mainboard Power Adapter Cable is compatible with Corsair Modular Power Supply.
Even though the manual mentioned connecting both cables, the PSU doesn't have enough space for the 4-pin connector.

Have you checked the compatibility list for this cable? Does your particular PSU model appear there? If not, you might face some issues.
