Question about a computer that stops unexpectedly – need assistance to grasp
2 tb Seagate sata
Samsung 512 gb 970 evo plus nvme Hello everyone,
I’m facing an issue with my wife’s computer.
It was built in 2020 and has the following specifications:
- cpu: intel core i5-10600
- cooling: Be Quiet Pure Rock Slim 2
- ram: 16 go ddr corsair
- motherboard: gigabyte B460 Hd3
- power: BeQuiete System Power 9 - 600w
- hdd (D
2 tb Seagate sata
- ssd (C
Samsung 512 gb 970 evo plus nvme
- graphic: msi rtx2070 8 gb
- windows 11 family up to date
- keyboard and mouse Logitech Mx Keys (bluetooth)
The problem is that for the past two months, the computer has been freezing randomly. Nothing functions properly—just the mouse moves, and the keyboard doesn’t respond at all. Alt tab or Ctrl+Alt+Del does nothing.
I’ve tried removing components:
- without hdd
- disabling gpu-scheduling
- without a graphics card (just the integrated one)
- with basic keyboard and mouse (cable)
I ran a full memtest and everything passed.
System files were checked, Windows was reinitialized, and temperatures stayed below 65°C via HW monitoring.
My feeling is that there’s a hardware issue, but I’m unsure how to proceed or what tests to run next.
Any suggestions or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much.
the computer is freezing unexpectedly. All functions are unresponsive except the mouse which moves. The keyboard does not respond. In BIOS settings, check the motherboard details. - motherboard: gigabyte B460 Hd3
What BIOS version is active for your motherboard?
- power: BeQuiete System Power 9 - 600w
This unit isn't very powerful but it's five years old. It might help to obtain a better PSU or borrow one to test if the problem improves.
In the bios, the keyboard is functioning properly...
I need to verify the bios version.
Power: I have some concerns about power, but I believe a failing power unit should only become visible during changes in electrical load, such as when suddenly loading a game... can it occur randomly, just by performing "almost nothing" on Windows desktop?
