I own a 5090 9950X3D x870 aorus elite equipped with 64GB DDR5 6000 cl30 RAM running in expo mode. The only BIOS adjustments I made were setting Expo mode for RAM, enabling the 90 Level 5 option for PBO, activating X3D Turbo Mode, and turning on High Bandwidth support. During gameplay, I played around 40 minutes of PUBG and experienced crashes without any error messages except a prompt to report it to PUBG. However, when playing CS2, the PC would freeze intermittently—sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes 20 minutes, or even instantly—without freezing completely. I could only shut down the system using the power button. In Windows Event Viewer, I occasionally see no critical errors before freezing, or I notice an error message.

The issue started when I purchased this computer from Microcenter about 50 minutes ago. It’s a 3-year system protection unit, so I’m confident it can handle the problem and replace any faulty parts. One of my recent freezes occurred in CS2, where the game seemed to time warp back to the spawn area around 40 seconds ago before freezing. I managed to identify and close the game that time, but it never recovered. The PC remained stable overall. In Event Viewer, I found an entry for:
"The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: \Device\000000a1 Error occurred on GPUID: 100 The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table"

I’ve been using ChatGPT for troubleshooting. I also tried closing the Gigabyte Control Center app and uninstalling the AI Snatch (possibly named differently). I reset the BIOS back to default, removing PBO, X3D Turbo, and EXPO settings. So far, about 2 hours of CS gameplay with frequent start-stop cycles, and no freezes yet—around 3 hours total. I’m still unsure what’s causing the problem. Is it a motherboard issue? I’d like to use these features for performance but freezing is frustrating. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I’ve kept my BIOS, chipset, and drivers up to date, used DDU to remove old drivers, and performed a clean install. If you need more details or have overlooked something, please let me know. Thanks.

Sorry if any part of this is unclear—I wrote it roughly three hours ago before making the changes above. But yes, I understand.

What makes sense is keeping things simple—just stick to the default BIOS settings and enjoy gaming. If problems persist, the power supply might be the issue.

Absolutely, that would be helpful. Also, I usually play more games than this, but this was only for the first testing phase.
