Eh, 6 cores is still more than acceptable and you don't gain that much by going higher. Doubt that'll really change in the next few years. That's a perfectly capable CPU. Just use that.

Your motherboard seems to have a short circuit, which could affect your GPU. If the GPU isn't working properly after being connected, it might be damaged.
