This could damage the motherboard and possibly the CPU if it's conductive. If referring to the physical connector, it's safe as long as it's in the correct position.
I attempted to clean the socket with a tiny brush, then expelled it with air, and finally inserted the CPU. It seems to be functioning somewhat, though I’m unsure if it caused any harm. Kryo-oxide isn’t conductive.
yeah the pins were fine just i need to brush the thermal paste off the underside. i am getting a new mortar max. so all i have to do is clean the pins on the 3950x i did clean it off but i noticed when i tried to seat it then pull it off then seat it again in the socket how some thermal paste kept getting in the holes or near them on the socket of the motherboard i am currently using. i did read thermal paste is usually non conductive it depends on what its made of and the thermal cleaner like arcticlean is non conductive as well. or at least it should be
As long as you avoid getting into the new socket, it should work. Even then, you were operating in that way previously.
I was using a brush designed for electric razor blades, but it was already clean before I cleaned the pins. It’s the tiny tool you use to remove hairs from the trimmer section of an electric shaver. I believe they should include such brushes for cleaning the underside of AMD CPUs.
