I need assistance with boosting my CPU performance. I'm using a Q9650 in 2020 for simple games and want to maximize its capabilities without spending much time or money. I have limited understanding of overclocking. My setup includes the following specs:

Q9650
1333mhz dual channel 8gb RAM
GTX 750ti OC Edition
p5P41T ASUS motherboard
stock cooler
500watt PSU
500+1000 HDD

You'll find better options by switching to a newer platform for $50, bringing along the GPU and other upgrades. With some funds, you can even go all-in on new gear.

I have my Q9650 and ASUS P5P43TD up to 3.76 with 8gb DDR 1333. It’s possible to go higher, but it runs smoothly at 3.76 without any overheating issues. The performance really depends on the memory quality. It took some time to figure this out since I’m new to overclocking and OC.

I found several videos that helped a lot. One matches my BIOS settings closely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7yO79jw2OA. You can search YouTube for “overclock q9650 asus P5p” for more tips.

Make adjustments gradually, one step at a time, so you can see what works. Avoid making large changes all at once—usually it’s better to increase memory and CPU (Vcore) voltage slowly. Otherwise, you risk damaging the components.

Also, consider downloading SpeedFan from https://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php or another temperature monitoring tool to keep track of temperatures.

Be alert for memory problems such as crashes, freezing, or random shutdowns. If these occur, it may prevent the system from booting at all.

Good luck!

Do you have a turbo key available for your keyboard, but the app isn't functioning properly with Windows 10? Are there any solutions to resolve this issue, or would upgrading to Windows 7 be necessary?
