Hi, I also tried to overclock my Q9400 to 3.2GHz but kept getting BSOD when Windows started. Then I increased it to 3GHz and after an hour it failed again. Anyone have advice for stable overclocking? :/
Thanks.

Well, the Q6600 was the top performer in terms of over-clocking.
I'm not too confident about the Q9xxx lineup.
The RAM might be a problem because, as I recall, boosting those chips requires increasing the bus speed, which impacts the RAM. You'd likely need something like 800 or 1066 RAM instead.

What cooler are you employing for that component? If the original one is sufficient, consider upgrading to a more efficient cooler.

What cooler are you employing on that chip?
If the standard one, consider swapping it for a superior cooler.

So cooling isn't the problem then.
Maybe your specific CPU just can't overclock as effectively as others can.

The Core 2 quad seems suitable for overclocking, but the issue might lie with the 667MHz RAM.
