Q: Is $60 enough to get a good upgrade?
Q: Is $60 enough to get a good upgrade?
I looked at some sellers in your region and honestly, not even the cheapest option fits your budget well. The lowest price I found is around $70 for a Ryzen 3600 tray (no cooler included). A Ryzen 5 3600 isn't an option because it's twice as expensive as what you can afford right now; the only way to get that power would be buying it used. Good news, though: I found a Ryzen 3500X for just $175 (which is about $40 USD). Unlike the 3600, this chip doesn't support Hyperthreading, so you only get 6 cores and 6 threads. But that's still a big jump in gaming power compared to a first-generation model.
Your board probably only works with older Ryzen chips like the 2xxx series. It's unlikely this shop has any of those anymore, but you could try updating their BIOS to handle newer parts. A new CPU would be a good upgrade if they have one. If your board supports it, maybe you can even get a 5600? I know nothing about your local area so I don't know what prices might be there.
Yeah, I think upgrading to a CPU is a good move. A 5600 minimum works. Even better, if you can save money on the upgrade, getting a 5700x3d would last way longer than that. It makes a big difference compared to an old 1600. Just remember: you need to update your BIOS first or else those new CPUs won't even turn on!
You can find a 5600 for just $68 here. Just check if that same price exists where you live before buying anything else.
I looked at some sellers here in your country and it's actually pretty expensive. A Ryzen 3600 would probably cost too much for you right now. The cheapest one I saw was around $70, but that comes with no cooler, just a tray version. Since the current budget is lower than that, getting a full 5600 isn't an option unless you look at used stuff.
The good part is I found a Ryzen 3500X for only 175RON ($40). Unlike the 3600, this one doesn't have hyperthreading, so you get fewer cores but it's still a big upgrade in gaming power compared to older CPUs. It also comes as a tray with no cooler attached. You could buy that part separately for $20 if you want something better than the tray version.
If Evomag is your only store to use this gift card, then you really have to go for the 3600 and pay about $20 extra in cash yourself (since it's a full box with a cooler included).
First, thanks everyone for waiting their turn! I checked the MoBo and found that it can handle a 5600 or a 5600X. Since you have a used 3600 sitting around, should I just save up and wait for the new 5600 which costs about $90? Also, if I switch to either of those CPUs, will my Wraith Max cooler be enough? Or do I need to buy a better one too?
If you have some cash, buy this thing for around 5600. That's way better than your 1600. Even a 3500 or 3600 would be fine. You might also check the 5500.
