Why do you need Asus taking full control? You can't with it because the router is meant to be an ISP hub, not a dumb device. If you use the Asus as an access point, your internet goes fine, but the router becomes useless and loses its control. Instead of buying two long ethernet cables to connect the current Asus back to the ISP device (and using a coupler if needed), just tie that cable straight to your existing feed. Then run another cable from there to the IPTV device. If you have more than one, put a switch in between them so only one works at a time.
