Purchasing the Windows Pro license key on Amazon.
Purchasing the Windows Pro license key on Amazon.
I purchased a laptop running Windows 11 Home and plan to upgrade to Windows Pro. Will this replace the home version code, and will I lose access to the home version if I reset the device? Additionally, is buying the license from Amazon trustworthy despite some negative reviews about serial codes not functioning?
Right, but I am not even sure Pro benefits anything other than a few networking things. I'd buy a code off Ebay, honestly. Or like g2a possibly. Skip Amazon, I wouldn't;'t trust a lot of things there. As for overwriting, I think it will but it won't matter, since you';ll have a Pro license key. You may have to reinstall, but I am not sure on that.
A genuine Pro License costs $199 USD. If Amazon listings are below that price, they might not be fully authentic. They could be grey market items with uncertain quality. Regarding losing your home license, I’m not certain. OEM keys are usually tied to the machine’s motherboard, and there are reports they can be embedded in the BIOS during pre-built setups. As for upgrading via Windows, it’s possible to switch from Home to Pro settings, which could save money.
The optimal method to upgrade is through the official Microsoft support page.
The $199 model comes with a CD, not a USB drive. The only seller I’m aware of that offers USB is Micro Center. A useful tip: switch from Home to Pro via Windows settings. You can purchase the key through the official Windows stores using a Windows gift card, plus applicable taxes.
You get the Media Creation tool from Microsoft.com, which lets you install Windows on your USB drive without leaving home. You can purchase a key directly from Microsoft, and if you use a Microsoft account, it stays linked for future use. The link also mentions you can upgrade Windows right inside the operating system.
I recognize that concern, but it seems others are facing difficulties with the upgrade key.
