Your CPU can only handle up to 2400MHz, so a 3200MHz RAM might not work and could be unnecessary.

It's really inexpensive these days, isn't it? Don't worry, it won't cause any damage—it'll operate at a slower pace.

It will simply reduce your RAM speed to match what your CPU supports. This way, you can still utilize it later when you upgrade your CPU or motherboard.

Do you need DDR3 or DDR4? It doesn't matter if you're upgrading your CPU, since you might not be able to go faster than what your processor supports—especially if you're stuck on DDR3 and the cost is a factor. Share your system details.

If the quicker RAM costs the same, take it. Otherwise, you're likely losing your money. It probably won't affect performance unless the timing is significantly improved.
