I’m thinking about upgrading to DDR4 RAM for your Intel i7-7700HQ laptop running at 2.80GHz with a 2400Mhz limit. The Ballistix model you mentioned, rated at 2666Mhz, should fit without issues. Many sources suggest exceeding the CPU’s memory speed isn’t harmful, so it should work fine and your system should boot normally.

It should function most of the time, though it will operate at 2400 MHz. This is incorrect.

the ram should function properly, though the highest setting for the motherboard/cpu pair isn't 2666 as mentioned on the memory card.
