I install the updated BIOS from the official MSI site on my M.SI B350M, and it functions properly with the R3 1200. Using the R5 5500 doesn’t trigger any changes. The issue likely lies in the BIOS version or compatibility settings for your specific hardware.

From what I observed, 7A38val3 is a beta BIOS, which means you might encounter issues with the system. It’s funny that this motherboard hasn’t been supported by MSI yet, so it’s ironic. When you go to BIOS settings and nothing appears to work—like drives not detecting—it can be frustrating.

I reach the bios section, but saving or deleting changes only causes a reboot. After restarting, I see the lights flicker on the motherboard, yet it restarts to Windows normally. When I load the R3 1200 back, it boots up correctly.

It seems the system works well enough for initial setup, but once you reach the BIOS, it stops booting into Windows. You can usually regain access to the BIOS again by resetting the CMOS or replacing the memory chips.

In the BIOS setup, does your boot drive appear in the selection menu or the storage device list? For an M.2 SSD, it might depend on whether it matches the PCIe slot requirements, and adjusting PCIe settings could assist.

You switched from UEFI to CSM and it's now booting up.

This setup aligns with how older systems were built. Initially, SSDs were often configured for CSM, but modern motherboards now expect UEFI with 5000 series chips. It’s surprising how this transition happened without anyone realizing it beforehand.
