I purchased a refurbished PC running Windows 10 in one language. The software isn’t activated, and I need to switch the language settings. Should I simply restart the PC via Windows Settings and then reinstall Windows from the cloud?

To alter the language settings, open Windows and navigate to Settings > Time & Language > Language. Pick an option from the available languages in the display menu, or go to Preferred languages and add the desired language if it isn’t already listed. Determine your PC type—laptop or desktop—and ensure a license is stored on the motherboard (avoid saving for laptops after 2016/17). If it’s a stationary computer, you’ll need a license key to activate Windows.

Reinstalling windows won't make it work. It's actually quite affordable. Avoid purchasing it from an electronics store for a high price. Most game key shops also offer OEM keys for around ten euros. Without a tangible installation medium such as USB or DVD, buying online has no drawbacks. After that, set up a Microsoft account if you don’t have one, connect your Windows license to it, and you’ll never need to buy another license again. I’m still using my 16€ Windows 7 Pro x64 license I bought over ten years ago, which allows me to install and activate Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 via my Microsoft account.
