Purchased a motherboard that restricts overclocking capabilities.
Hello. I purchased the Asus B520M-K motherboard thinking it could be overclocked, but I discovered it isn't possible. What options do I have?
On that board you can't overclock the CPU, and the only option is to replace it.
DRagor :
You can't OC CPU on that board, and there is nothing you can do with that, aside from changing it.
I only thought it could because it mentions it twice on the website
Danielthomas309 :
You're right about the CPU not being OCC up there, and the only option seems to be replacing it. I just assumed it was mentioned a couple of times online. Could you share the exact website link?
USAFRet:
danielthomas309 shared concerns about the CPU overclocking option on that board. They noted it was mentioned twice on the website and asked for a specific link. The URL provided was https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/PRIME-B250M-K/.
USAFRet:
danielthomas309 shared some confusion about the situation. They noted that changing the CPU on that board isn't possible beyond replacing it. They mentioned seeing similar information online but were unsure of the exact source. The website link was unclear, and they found it odd since XMP overclock mode allows adjusting the CPU ratio freely.
Danielthomas309 asked about missing information and noted the system struggles to reach 4.5ghz. He suggested possible issues with settings or hardware limitations.
USAFRet:
danielthomas309 asked about missing information and noted the system struggles beyond 4.5ghz, suggesting either incorrect settings or hardware limitations. They mentioned trying a higher ratio but being limited to 4.2ghz. The default turbo clock is 4.5. Thanks for the help.
