You're wise to be cautious after paying for something online. A 3900x priced at $400 on eBay can sometimes be a deal, but scams are possible. It's smart to double-check the seller's reputation and reviews before finalizing your purchase. If you're still concerned, consider reaching out to the seller directly or using secure payment methods.

Consider keeping an eye on the situation. A $400 price tag for a 3900x seems reasonable, though not too shocking. Paying via PayPal would likely work well either way.

It's brand new—definitely a scam. It could be fake or stolen. If you try it, it might seem like a good offer, but it could actually be genuine.

To verify authenticity, look for signs like inconsistent lighting, blurry details, or unnatural colors. Check for proper watermarks, holograms, or security features. Use specialized tools or consult experts if unsure.

Obtain a clear reference image from TechPowerUp or similar sources and assess how it matches your setup. If the pin arrangement works well and everything appears correct (including the IHS and any numbers), attempt to boot with it and use CPU-Z for further verification. Alternatively, review the BIOS information it displays. These steps are generally the only options without removing the IHS.
