Consider this update when planning your experience—wait for Battlefield 5 or Bad Company 3, as those games are likely to bring significant new features.

I’d purchase BF4 right away, since hardline merely looks different with inferior graphics and a flashy idea.

I wouldn't purchase any of them, as BF4 still has many problems and Hardline feels like a rushed acquisition. I'd hold off until the next major update for BF4 and check reviews to see if it's worth playing.

BF4 and Hardlines aren't connected beyond the Frostbyte engine being licensed for Hardlines. No DICE developers are involved; the project is managed by another company entirely. EA holds the trademark rights and contracted a separate team to develop the game.

It seems some believe DICE played a key role in creating Hardline. Regardless, the situation appears to be just another attempt by EA to profit through a rebranded product.

Both are strong players on the battlefield. Each offers unique single-player experiences, with distinct weapon options, game modes, and maps.

Consider purchasing BF4 immediately to improve your skills. Once you master the game, think about buying Hardline when you're ready. It has the chance to become a solid title, and the developers seem to be responding to player feedback.

They are entirely separate titles that share the same name. Hardlines is essentially a copy of the Payday series. Suggesting a comparison between them as if they’re connected implies a false link, when in reality they don’t relate at all.

Hardlines and BF4 share nothing beyond their names and engines. They represent two distinct titles from different developers. Regarding the Payday angle, Hardlines Beta includes a mission where your team intercepts a convoy of armed vehicles. This closely mirrors the Armed Transport DLC from Payday 2. Try naming another game where you and friends must take down a group of armed trucks—unless Payday 2 is the only one with that mechanic. It's likely GTA Online will introduce a similar heist once online content becomes available. But Payday 2 was the pioneer in this area.

The name ties everything together, which is why comparisons arise. For some, being hardline means they aren't considered deserving of the title "battlefield." Yet I understand your perspective.
