I’m facing a problem with my current Netgear Nighthawk WiFi 6 router. It’s been acting up after using several Netgear models before. I’m considering switching to Asus for a test. I’m unsure whether to purchase another WiFi 6 router or upgrade to WiFi 6E and pay the extra $200, especially since WiFi 7 is coming soon. Do you think it’s worth spending more for access to the 6GHz band? The routers I’m evaluating are the Asus ROG Rapture GT Ax11000 Pro and the Asus ROG Rapture GT Ax16000.

In my view NO. 6 GHz should offer less coverage compared to 5 GHz. How many 6 GHz devices do you own? Will they reach your router to operate effectively at that frequency? Just keep in mind the $200 savings.

Currently, all my cameras and smart devices run at 2.4GHz, while my two Nvidia Shields and both laptops use 5GHz. Only our phones and her desktop have WiFi6E. They’re placed close together—about one room from the router. She mainly plays single-player games instead of FPS.
