PUBG
PUBG
I thought the charity gathering was quite fun. As for eSports, maybe more about streaming events. They’ll need to fix the game bugs before any real competition starts.
PUBG seems more about chance than talent. I often get caught in dangerous spots and lose because someone spots a weapon faster, or I end up with a shotgun while another player gets a sniper with extra scope. It can still be won but is tough. Such games don’t belong to eSports. Fun gatherings like LAN parties, social events, or charity are great, but competitive play for real money isn’t it.
The idea of PUBG being an esport seems unlikely given its current design. The game relies heavily on random number generation with up to 25 participants, which contrasts with the structured competition typical of esports. Esports usually feature consistent formats with limited teams, whereas PUBG’s setup allows for large-scale, unpredictable matches. For it to qualify as an esport, a more standardized and repeatable mode would be necessary.
They're trying to adjust the system now. The player area is no longer random—it's based on where players are located, moving to areas with fewer or farther players to maintain game flow and prevent clustering. The plane still uses randomization, but everyone shares the same conditions, making it fairer for all. They should eliminate red zones. As far as I know: this is still randomness. I've died many times there, yet I've collected some of my best items.
It’s fundamentally different from a standard e-sports competition like CS:GO. It tends to struggle with an uneven balance, and currently it has two major issues that developers must resolve before it can be considered a solid e-sports title. The netcode is extremely poor, and the game runs sluggishly overall. I appreciate the game, but for competitive play it falls short.
These games are well-optimized and don’t struggle with older graphics cards like GTX 1070s.
Randomisation will never be esport... PUBG feels like complete trash to me... Try optimizing it first before considering it an esport... Grab a grip on the Blue Ballz Studio.
It could become a great eSport title if it were adjusted. The current design relies too heavily on randomness for loot and vehicle drops, and the optimization needs serious improvement. To reach eSport standards, the refresh rate should rise from 17Hz to at least 30 tic-rate. More map variety would help balance skill levels, such as offering smaller maps with fewer teams. Loot drops could be enhanced and ammo more accessible. An RPG twist would also be beneficial. Titles like Commander, Support, Sniper, and Medic would work well, with role limitations on specific weapons or loot items, creating a highly strategic experience.
