Hi, I just completed my first rigid tube loop using parts from my soft tube build, where I used premixed materials. I plan to use nickel-plated GPU and CPU blocks from the soft tube version, and I’ve noticed issues with Ekwb nickel plating. I’m wondering if it’s just the Ekwb type that corrodes all nickel-plated blocks or if copper sulfate also affects them. Could anyone help clarify this? I haven’t found a clear answer yet, especially since I’m unsure if copper sulfate can be used in a loop with nickel blocks. The only other metals in the build are copper and brass, and I’ve flushed all rads, hoping there’s no tin solder involved.

I would exercise caution, as EK apparently resolved their plating concerns long ago, but I am aware they are selective about warranties for blocks not using their EK approved coolant. I have personally used two EK nickel-plated GPU blocks, but I rely on distilled water and anti-algae in my setup. I also clean the loop at least once a year, which helps prevent issues. I don't anticipate major problems, but be mindful of copper sulfate/sulfide use to stay within warranty terms.
