PSU frequently stops working, maybe the GPU is to blame.
Hello everyone, I've been interested in computers for a while now. I mostly used laptops until about two months ago when I upgraded everything to build a solid tower. My setup includes: AMD 7700X, AMD Radeon 7600 EVGA 750W power supply, ASUS PRIME B650M-A AX II, Samsung 1TB M.2 NVMe drive, Corsair 5600MHz 32GB RAM (two 16GB), a 52X generic DVD drive via SATA, a water cooler (not the problem with HWMonitor), and temperatures staying below 70°C. I've tested Kombuster for nearly 24 hours and run CinimaBench simultaneously, but nothing similar occurs during the tests. Kombuster shows the Radeon drawing up to 178W, which seems a bit too high based on my research. When I play Minecraft with intense shaders or Rust at full settings while monitoring, the GPU jumps to 205W. I suspect it goes even higher when the PSU turns off. In AMD Adrenaline Software, I can set the maximum board power to -6%, which is the lowest setting possible. After adjusting it, HWMonitor displays a Max Peak Power and a Nominal Max Power of 156W and 128W respectively. Kombuster adheres to these numbers, but MC and Rust Blast exceed them, still reaching over 180W and sometimes shutting down completely. There are no active over-locks, only reduced power for the Radeon. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thanks for reading my request.
I’m surrounded by friends who are quite distant, so I mostly rely on myself. Recently, I bought an Asus 1000W power supply and a Asus Radeon 7900XT graphics card. While I wait for the new components, I’ll check if the PSU performs similarly.
