PSU for an RX 9070 ?
PSU for an RX 9070 ?
Would the be quiet! Straight Power 12 1000W ATX 3.0 work with an AMD RX 9070? I believe the 9070 uses a 2 x 8-pin power connector, while the PSU only has a single 8-pin connector. An 850W PSU would suffice, wouldn't it?
Edit:
Are 6+2-pin connectors meant to be interpreted as 8-pin connectors?
I don't think the RX 9070 Sapphire Pure is suitable for Nitro+ since it requires a 12V-2x6 adapter while the pure needs 8-Pin.
I assume from checking the GPU and PSU that there shouldn't be any issues.
Would it help if you asked the forum members to confirm?
Newer PSUs typically include 12VHPWR, yes. Both ATX 3.0 and 3.1 models work with the Radeon RX 9070.
Typically, high-quality units above 750W include this feature, right? Yes. The ATX 3.1 model supports the updated 12V-2X6 standard, which is being considered to address previous issues with the 12VHPWR setup.
Thanks for explaining, so that means theres no need to worry about 12V-2X6?
The recent 12V-2X6 spec update seems quite new. I still believe the main design has significant flaws, especially because it lacks a substantial safety margin compared to the usual 8-pin PCIe standard.
