PSU fan is very loud ?
Hey, I was adjusting the smart fan settings and noticed the PSU fan spinning very fast with annoying sounds. I wondered if it might fail soon or if there’s a temperature issue. Since I can’t change its speed, I’m unsure what to do. I thought it could be due to overheating, but I’m running at 45°C idle and up to 70°C while gaming. I have two front fans and one rear fan. I even tried setting them between 80-90% speed, but the temperatures stayed the same. It seems like something might be wrong. I’m currently playing World of Warcraft, with a CPU and system fan almost quiet, but the PSU fan is really loud. Thanks.
this does not show the exact temperature the power supply can reach. you would require a separate third-party temperature sensor to be integrated into the power supply.
JohnBonhamsGhost mentioned that adjusting PSU fan speeds isn't possible. The sound could mean a loose wire or the fan is failing.
this model is part of the S12II line, which was seen as quite basic.
it’s unlikely it has reached its peak performance yet.
i wouldn’t suggest using it right away, but since the audio bothers you, it could be a good sign to upgrade to a more reliable option.
Get a better power supply with higher wattage. The fan won’t work properly even with minimal loads.
I haven’t heard of a power supply fan before—most people only know case fans, not this one.
