Hello everyone, I'm looking for guidance on selecting two sticks of RAM that are 16x2 (32GB). I'm considering a team group brand because they're improving, or another good option. I'm unsure about the right speed and whether 3000 or 3200 MHz would be best. I want to ensure my build lasts at least five years without needing major changes later.
I also need advice on my PSU – is it sufficient for this setup? I plan to stay with this configuration for a long time and don’t want to worry about upgrades soon.
For the components, I have an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, an MSI X479 Gaming Plus motherboard, and I’m thinking of adding an MSI RTX 2060 SUPER Gaming X 8GB GD6 graphics card. My storage includes a Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD with 7200rpm and a 256MB SATA III SSD. I’ll use Crucial MX500 1TB M.2 3D RAM and a Semi Modular Corsair TX 650M 80+ Gold PSU.
My budget is around 200 euros, and I’m purchasing this in Portugal from GlobalData. If you can check the available RAM options at that store or recommend suitable picks, that would be really helpful. Thanks!
3200 MHZ isn't an issue with Ryzen. If you have the budget, I'd opt for 3600—it's ideal for Ryzen performance.
you won't require 32gb ram anytime soon; you might need to upgrade your GPU before moving from 16gb to 32gb. If you decide to go that route, aim for at least 3200mhz speed. Using two 8gb RAM sticks can deliver higher speeds and better performance.
I concur with @WambleCropped about targeting a 3200Mhz RAM CL16. Various manufacturers can work—Corsair, G.Skill, etc. If you have more funds, opt for the 3600Mhz option. A 650W power supply is sufficient; a 550W unit would also suffice.
