Hi Community! I'm facing an issue with my Proxmox server. The setup works fine initially, giving me access to the web UI and allowing me to run VMs like Plex, Home Assistant, and AMP. After about 10 minutes, the connection drops completely—no network activity, not even on USB ports. Despite fans still running, all VMs lose connectivity. I rebooted it, and it worked again for another 10-15 minutes before the problem resurfaced. My specs are: Intel Xeon E5-2670 dual CPUs, 8x 16GB RAM at 2133Mhz, 500W PSU. I've tried different RAM sticks, but only 4 worked without issues. The issue seems to appear when using 8GB instead of 16GB. It's been three months of troubleshooting, and I'm still stuck. Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated!

No, I haven't run Memtest86 on the machine with 8 sticks.

All the RAM sticks are brand new and functioning perfectly without any issues. If a RAM stick fails, the Mobo displays a B7 error code during startup, but it boots normally and only experiences USB connection loss and power drop after about 10-15 minutes of use.

Recent update: I managed to get it working with six RAM sticks, but adding the last two causes issues since all eight aren’t fitting. When running a Memtest with all sticks installed, the test freezes at a certain point (see photo). After testing each stick individually with Memtest86+, none showed errors, so I’m unsure what’s preventing me from using eight sticks.

You're wondering if the RAM layout might be affecting performance. Trying 2133 instead of 2400 could help.

Proxmox operates smoothly at 2133. memtest86+ displays only the maximum RAM performance.

Could be a memory controller failing on one of the CPUs right now. Do you have any idea how to obtain another one to run tests? I notice they're available on eBay in the UK for between £13 and £25.
