You can store your save data either in the cloud or on a local hard drive. The cloud option lets you back up your progress remotely, while saving locally keeps everything on your PC. Both methods allow you to reload your game later.

Yes, you can preserve your single-player achievements. The online features are stored on Rockstar servers.

You can save your Story Mode progress by using the built-in save feature in the game or by exporting it to a file if supported.

Many games keep saved information in My Documents by default. When switching drives, I usually drag files from My Documents, My Videos, My Pictures, and My Music to an external storage. After installing a new operating system, I transfer all subfolders into their standard places. A few games save data in AppData (often Local), but I’ve only noticed a handful of those cases. For GTA V, moving your My Documents folder to an external drive preserves your story mode files. As noted earlier, be sure to paste the subfolders back into My Documents after setting up the new OS.
