I own this computer for about four years now, and I haven’t ever organized it, which is...problematic, actually. It’s not that I haven’t kept it in good shape, but rather because I have an overwhelming number of files—different types—and they’re all jumbled together without any clear order. I don’t even remember most of their names (I’m not sure how), and even if I searched for each one individually, it would take a lot of time. That’s why I really need to format this thing; time and physical strain are already becoming noticeable. I’m wondering if there’s a way to back up specific file types automatically, like saving all my .png pictures together?

I’m aware there isn’t any program that lets you choose only back up .png or other specific formats. You might want to back up the files yourself using an external drive. It’ll take some effort, but you’ll keep your data safe.
