Pros typically rely on high sensitivity settings, while others prefer lower values. I’ve been using around 3.5k with high DPI and mounting my hand on the desk. My friends suggest lower DPI for better precision, so I’ve been trimming it down to about 1.5k recently. It’s manageable but harder to go further now since mouse movement feels sluggish. For optimal performance and habit formation, understanding DPI guidelines is key. The console advice seems to be the opposite—higher settings are recommended for smoother control.

@The Torrent Depends on the resolution but for 1080p many competitive gamers use between 400 and 800 DPI. I haven't been a competitive gamer for over a decade now, but i still use 600 DPi for 1080p, and 1100 for 4k. Low DPi means you get the ability to be more accurate, but u have to get used to bigger movements. This also happens to be why large mouse-pads are more common nowadays than back in 'yee oldy times'. High sensitivity/dpi on console controllers is understandable as you have limited range of motion with analog sticks, so at lower DPi u will be unable to make fast movements.

The rules aren't clear, it depends on personal taste. Staying accurate at high settings works best, but if it gets too high it often makes precise aiming tough. For a close headshot on someone far away, their head appears as just a few pixels, and adjusting with the mouse is so subtle you might not get there in a reasonable time—it could be challenging.

I'm using 1440p right now. That means I'll likely continue with what I have instead of making further changes.

Adjust the settings to around 800 DPI for optimal clarity.
