I finished cleaning everything thoroughly, disassembled each part as much as possible, dusted off the surfaces, and rinsed the safe components before letting them air dry.

The improvement was modest—about 10 fps and fewer drops—but it still wasn’t enough. Adding a new CPU together with thermal paste could significantly boost performance.
