You're exploring ways to use a single product key across multiple systems, including a newer Windows 10/Linux machine and an older Windows 10/Intel PC. Your experience shows that both machines are working smoothly with the same key, which is convenient. Many users share this setup, but it's worth understanding the limitations of digital licensing. Most manufacturers enforce strict rules around product activation, often requiring a physical license or tied to a specific account. Using the same key across devices may be possible in some cases, but it can raise concerns about compliance and future support. If you're planning to expand your setup, consider verifying the license terms or exploring alternative methods for managing multiple machines.

Same licensing rules apply. With a digital license tied to a Microsoft account, you can move it between devices, but using the same key on multiple machines isn't allowed. There might be a short grace period for transfers, but eventually one of the devices will likely lose its license, especially if both are active at once.

The waiting time for that license was only a couple of years. I’m not upset because I still have a Windows 8 key that works on my PC. It’s strange to see this situation unfold. I’m not sure if it matters. My previous machine with the digital license also runs Windows 7, which is the original system there.
