I got a Gainward 5060 Ti Python 3 16GB this year in April. It's been working fine ever since, I benchmarked it a couple times, played games on it for a while and no issues. Today I boot up a game and I immediately notice the fans are incredibly loud, like a jet engine. There's also a much more buzzy/low frequency noise coming from it, can't describe it exactly. Even when the fans aren't at 100% it's very noticeable how loud they are. I'm fairly certain this is new as I would've noticed it being this loud, since it's under load often. It's fine at idle since the fans don't spin. What could cause this, is it drivers, software (does the same with gpu tweak 3 and msi afterburner), or did something go wrong with the gpu? How can I diagnose/troubleshoot this?
Can you capture the sound so we can understand its quality? You might want to reposition the GPU and DDU, then install a new driver. Many people have shared similar concerns about Gainwards fans being too loud on certain RTX 5000 models—it's disappointing. I prefer Gainwards.
Okay. That doesn't sound ideal. Fan noise is expected but I do hear some rattle if I am not mistaken. I can also hear the fan motors going. This is not something I am personally used to from any of my own GPU's. I dont know what types of fans and fan motors are used in this GPU. It sounds similar to what I have heard other people have complained about the Gainward GPU's with similar fans to what yours is running, at least visually.
I've already tried updating the drivers, using DDU, and reinstalling them, but nothing helped. I plan to try reseating it later. Over the time I've used it, I never noticed any fan noise complaints. It's hard to say exactly when this became loud, since the games I played recently didn't use the GPU enough to activate the fans. But it seems like something changed recently. It's obvious there was an issue. I'm confused about how or why it suddenly got so noisy, especially since it was much quieter before at full performance. I haven't had success with reseating, so I might need to file a warranty claim because this level of noise is really unacceptable.
