processor upgraded, new cpu appears each time it starts, memory operating at reduced speed
Hi, I attempted to upgrade my system using the motherboard ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 to the compatible processor AMD FX-8370. Now with this chip I receive the message "new cpu detected press F1..." every time it boots. When switching back to the previous model (AMD FX-6350), it only asks once and then starts without issues. I've looked up possible causes and found that either the battery might be undercharged or the BIOS might be outdated (I have version 2501 installed). Another issue is that the new processor doesn't support all RAM modules at the expected speed—when using two 4GB modules, it runs smoothly but slows down to below 1333 MHz once both are in. I've tried changing the processor and switching between models, but every time with the new CPU it causes problems while the old one works perfectly. Any suggestions? Is the CPU defective (bought secondhand)? Thanks, Karl.
The same problem appears with a Sabertooth 2.0 here; it was mentioned earlier about the socket not being perfectly flat at the top. Here’s the link and possibly a solution: Solved! ASUS New CPU installation issue This happened because the CPU was changed, so the system is functioning correctly now. It won’t retain previous chips, only the current one, which means each swap will reset it properly.
