Processor reduces speed to 576mhz during intense usage while maintaining typical temperatures.
I've been noticing strange performance issues with my PC for the past two weeks. It slows down significantly when running demanding tasks like gaming, AI art creation, or 3D rendering in Blender. Under heavy loads, the system throttles down to 576MHz. Temperatures remain normal during both high and idle states, with a maximum of around 75°C when under stress. I've checked for updates—two Windows patches, a GPU driver fix, and updating the motherboard BIOS—but nothing resolved the problem. My setup includes a Ryzen 5950X, MSI MPG X570S EDGE MAX WIFI motherboard, a 1000W PSU, and an MSI 4080 Gaming Trio X GPU. The RAM is 32GB G.Skill Trident Z. I suspect something might be failing, and I'm worried about potential hardware issues. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. DxDiag.txt
Checking the airflow around your setup, particularly near the VRM and CPU area on the motherboard. It seems the VRM might be getting too hot. You could try increasing airflow by opening the case during overheating or directing extra air toward the VRM zone using a pedestal fan. The edited comment on the Reddit thread mentions a lower frequency of 547 MHz, possibly related to throttling issues. Good luck—cleaning and adding more fans in the case could help.
Sure, you could also consider using some temporary fans or upgrading to a better motherboard to prevent VRMs from overheating.
I discovered the problem. The CPU core voltage was initially set to AMD Overclock. I changed it back to Auto and now the CPU stops throttling to 576mhz during heavy use.
