I'm not sure how this happened. My R9 5900X ran at 114% usage, and I wanted to check if anyone knows what was going on. I don’t have other components to test, and here’s what I’ve gathered so far: I started seeing the cooler consistently at 100% capacity, with temperatures staying around 90-95°C. I set a temperature limit on PBO at 75°C, but surprisingly, performance remained stable, especially on nearly 5GHz speeds during Cinebench. Before that, I used PBO without any limits. I tried PBO disabled, cleaned Windows 11 and 10 installs, reset BIOS to defaults, but the overheating issue persisted. Interestingly, CPU usage often exceeded 100% at that time. I first noticed this problem when my old AIO pump stopped working (a Lian Li Galahad 360mm from 2020), suspecting it was temperature-related because one tube wasn’t flowing water anymore. Even with another cooler, the heat issue continued, and I’m unsure if it’s connected to the CPU load. In Task Manager it only shows 100% usage, which is typical since graphs cap at that point. My system specs: CPU Ryzen 9 5900X, cooler Pichau Dark Star P1 Extreme, motherboard ROG B550, RAM 4x16GB XPG D60G CL18, GPU RX 570 4GB, Sapphire PSU Corsair RM850X White (2018), 9 fans from Lian Li Unifans SL 120mm case, and O11D.

HWMonitor often provides inaccurate readings; likely this is the issue. Consider using HWInfo64 for better reliability with such data.

Review the information in the top row; it indicates the maximum might reach 114%, which isn't feasible as it would cause excessive heat and trigger thermal throttling.

It didn't happen that way... The top two rows are the ones most users notice, while others aren't as much. Are you certain you grasp what these numbers represent? Are you facing any problems with this system? It does tend to get quite warm, which could be a factor, but I'm interested in knowing exactly what's going on if you're experiencing any issues. P.S. An air cooler would really help.

It seems the main function and performance remained unchanged at 100%. The system is running normally, but I’m concerned about potential temperature issues that could worsen over time. This post is trying to find if others have encountered similar problems. Since I don’t have funds for replacements right now, I’m looking for ways to help extend its lifespan or keep the CPU cooler until a solution comes along.

Core utility and total CPU performance feature turbo/PBO capabilities. It's typical and anticipated for them to exceed 100% utilization.

As mentioned earlier, the top sections are crucial for you. Running Cinebench should be completely normal at 100%. For the temperatures, using an air cooler would be a straightforward fix, I hope!
