Ryzen 9 3900x 3080 TI Arous Extreme with 32GB RAM at 3000MHZ is running on G.Skill TridentZ RGB. I can push it up to around 3466MHZ if necessary. The 6TB hard drive and 500GB SSD are a Samsung 980 Pro M.2. Currently, the most demanding game I’ve played is Watch Dogs Legends at maximum settings with ray tracing, achieving about 40-50 FPS. What is the CAS latency for both stock and your 3466 overclock? What is the RPM speed of your hard drive? Which power supply do you have? Which motherboard are you using to run the chip?
the improvement will be clear but it doesn’t justify the cost. If you’re purchasing a 5800x, you’d pay about 25% more than the card for a 15% boost in certain cases. It’s not the worst option I’ve seen, so it depends on your needs. Avoiding the 5600x is wise either—switching from a 12-core to a 6-core is risky, and I no longer suggest it for new builds. There’s no perfect answer here; ultimately, it boils down to whether you need a CPU upgrade or not. It won’t aid watchdogs at 40-50fps.
