I purchased the incorrect RAM speed to match my CPU. Ripjaws - 8GB x2, 3600MHz. Intel i5 11500. Asus TUF Gaming Z590 Plus with Wi-Fi. In BIOS I tried setting the RAM speed and it only worked up to 3066. The CPU supports up to 3200. Did I overlook something when trying to enable the higher speed? Voltages, anything else?

I don't have access to your system details. Please check your computer's documentation or manufacturer website for information about the RAM slots.

Do you rely on the XMP profile or configure it yourself?

I attempted XMP and it configured it to 3600 alongside all the other adjustments. I think this is due to the RAM being actually 3600.

The system started correctly with XMP activated.

I thought it wouldn't work since the CPU supports up to 3200 for RAM... But I'm willing to give it a shot... I'll update later when I have more info.

Even at a low rated speed, you usually won’t face much difficulty with an overclock this gentle. If it doesn’t work, turn on XMP to apply the rated voltage and settings, then adjust the frequency down to 3466 or 3333—or even 3200—until it stabilizes. Fine-tune the timing as needed. If it does function, you’re all set.

I tested the XMP at the standard setting (3600) but didn’t get the expected results. Then I followed your advice and reduced the speed to a consistent level. Now I’m only seeing a steady 2933, which is what I was hoping for. I’m not going to keep trying further unless it works. Thanks for all the support! I’d prefer a stable speed instead of risking more issues and needing replacements. Thanks again!
