GHz and cores rely heavily on the underlying design. An outdated 8-core Xeon would run fast but likely lag in real-world tasks like 60fps gaming. A modern 4-core i3-12100 running at 2.7GHz probably offers better overall performance than what you see now. Comparisons are only meaningful within the same architectural line, such as Zen+ chips using chiplets. The 3400G, for instance, isn’t a fair match because it’s a solid-core processor, while other architectures—Zen 3, Skylake, Haswell, Bulldozer, etc.—will yield different outcomes.
