Hey guys! I own an E5-575 laptop with Intel built-in graphics. It has 12GB of RAM, and I'm wondering if upgrading to a 16GB or even 32GB is a good idea. Since it already uses an integrated GPU, I want to know if it will boost performance and if I need to go further. I don’t want to spend too much on a bigger upgrade. Thanks for your advice!
Boosting the amount of RAM doesn’t speed up the iGPU. When you’re running low on memory, it’s usually because the system isn’t handling the workload well, not because the GPU is lacking power. If you’re unsure, it’s likely you won’t see much improvement from more RAM in that case.
I understand, but others suggested increasing the memory could be beneficial. I tried it by adding one of my drives, and I noticed a significant improvement.
I own this exact CPU with 8GB of RAM and everything looks fine. Having 12GB or more won’t make a big difference. It performs well enough for games that don’t require much power. Fortunately, I also have a 940MHz (0% in the picture) capable of running 3D titles and even some PS2 emulation. So without a dedicated GPU you’ll always face limitations, and more RAM won’t change that.
