I installed another 970 for building SLI in my system and attempted to use ASUS AI Suit3 to boost my CPU performance. During this process, dwm.exe appeared and consistently consumed over 20% of the CPU. After some investigation, it seems this program doesn't shut down properly. Is there any method to lower the CPU usage?

DWM is the software that manages how applications appear on your Windows desktop. It can make your computer work harder when many programs run at once, especially with extensions like Aero Glass. Could you tell me your operating system and if you have any third-party DWM add-ons installed?

This resource should also help with Windows 10. The link provided points to a guide on using the Desktop Window Manager for high CPU or memory usage.

Win10 64-bit, I just reinstalled it before doing any CPU overclocking, so I'm confident there are no extra components.

Sorry, I had to rest. Did you attempt a system reset? It seems DWM is consuming a lot of processing power.
