Problems with Windows TV video playback.
Problems with Windows TV video playback.
Hey there. I'm facing a problem that's really confusing me. I keep switching my focus between the TV, the receiver, the GPU, and the cables. There are occasional video drops, but audio stays fine for about a second or longer—until I switch inputs again. My setup includes an RTX 3070, HDMI 2.1 cable 15 feet, and a Denon 3700h receiver with an 8K input. I've tried changing the frame size from 4K 120 HDR to 2K 60 without any HDR, but it didn't help. I suspect the issue might be with the cable, since longer high-end cables often have quality problems. I replaced the cable and still had no improvement. Unless I have another faulty cable, I don’t think that’s the cause. I’ve removed all other displays except the TV, and the problem persists regardless of resolution or refresh rate—so it’s not a power or heat issue. I’ve tested different HDMI ports on the GPU, but nothing worked. Connecting the computer directly to the TV without a receiver also failed. It seems like the TV might be having a connectivity hiccup when switching inputs, possibly a handshake error. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
The issue might not be the cable; HDMI 2.1 supports 4K at 120Hz well. It could be the TV itself.
Thanks for the updates. I'm glad to hear the TV is running the latest firmware. I disabled CEC on my TV and adjusted the HDCP settings in the receiver. It seems the issue might be related to those changes. I'll keep an eye on it and try reverting CEC if needed. Let me know if you need further help!
It might be the problem, as the main concern comes from each maker applying the so-called "standards" in their own way. I faced a similar situation with my Samsung TV and Sony amp, which was resolved after firmware updates to both devices but still caused some frustration. I hope our advice has led to a resolution.
I'll keep these videos here... In short, while HDMI is a standard, most makers don't fully adhere to it.
I'm trying to fix these ongoing problems. I followed these steps: turned off CEC, disabled GSync, set audio mode to Bitstream, and adjusted receiver settings. In Game Settings Mode, the low latency feature is consistently toggled on and off. I also noticed a rainbow effect appearing when the screen restarts. The issue seems to be with the HDMI 2.1 specification, though I suspect my configuration might still work. I'm looking for a solution and appreciate any advice. Thanks!
