Problems with the new installation
Hey there, friend. I see you're stuck with a tricky setup. To simplify things, the system has been acting up for quite some time now. Initially, the Ryzen 9 5900X was running on an MSI Tomahawk board, but it stopped working completely—no booting at all. I sent it back for return on the 31st of October, and by December 1st, I still hadn’t received any refund. Eventually, I replaced it with a new MOBO, the Crosshair VIII Hero ASUS board.
Now, after about three to four months of use, I’m facing another problem. When I try to start, my graphics card fans aren’t spinning. They used to work before launching the desktop, but now they’re silent. In the BIOS they were active, though I can’t tell what was happening. Recently, resetting the computer helped get them back, but there’s still a small hiccup—sometimes it restarts aggressively until I press the reset button on the back panel to clear CMOS.
People online have suggested things like bad RAM, BIOS errors, or a failing CMOS battery. One person mentioned they overclocked and damaged their MOBO, but I haven’t done that either. I really don’t want to waste more money. I’ve already put a lot into this rig and just want to enjoy some games without any hassle. Got any suggestions?
First, check the CMOS battery. It usually costs about a dollar. I’ve faced this issue before, and swapping the battery resolved it.
