Attempting to set up a WD blue M.2 storage but facing issues with recognition by the system. Initially assumed standard replacement, but encountered problems. Dell SSDs require specific brand or model compatibility?

I checked your Dell 3580 models—Precision 3580, Inspiron 3580, etc. The SSD isn’t showing up in Windows Explorer, which suggests either a missing drive or a failed replacement. Are you swapping the existing SSD for a new one or adding another drive?

The 3580 model might be too big for a 1TB SSD like the WD Blue SN850 NVMe X600 Scandisk.

Does this match what you expected? The daughter board is linked to a SATA port, which means your PC only recognizes SATA SSDs in M.2 size. You’d have to use something like this link: https://www.newegg.com/western-digital-b...6820250093. It features two notches unlike the single notch on your WD Blue drive.

Only one notch remains... thanks, I can keep this one. It functioned fine on my desktop after a fresh Windows 10 installation.
