It seems a 2012 R2 server is experiencing problems after installing Server Essentials for backup services. Most likely, the issue lies with the domain configuration. The local accounts are supposed to connect to "PKF-Paul" or "PKF-Greg," but now they're logging in with modified usernames like "PKF-Paul.PKF-SERVER." This suggests files and configurations aren't present on the local machine for those accounts, causing login failures. I'm not planning to add domain services; I just need the local and RDP access working again. The setup of roles has been removed without success, and I'm struggling to restore things to their original state. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

I discovered a Clone SSD that’s only a day old, which is fine—this gives me extra space by cloning it. A good lesson learned; I should review roles and features more carefully next time.
