I recently bought the components for a project I'm assembling for a friend. Today I received most of the parts and set up a test configuration to verify functionality. Important components: - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X - Gigabyte Eagle AX AMD B650 - 2x 16GB PATRIOT VIPER Venom DDR5 6000MHz CL30 There appears to be a problem with the RAM. The system didn't reach BIOS and the memory indicator on the motherboard continuously lit red. I've determined that the RAM I purchased is not compatible with the motherboard, so I'm ordering a replacement kit. During testing, I discovered that the computer boots into BIOS only when RAM is placed in the A channel slots. Test results: - One stick in A2, one in B2 (optimal setup): no BIOS - One stick in A2 (tested with both sticks): BIOS - One stick in B1/B2: no BIOS - One stick in A1 and one in A2: BIOS The memory light stayed red throughout. I've also tried reseating everything, including the CPU, and checked the cooler mount. I've updated the BIOS to the latest version F31. I think the RAM incompatibility is the main issue, but since it only works in A channel, should I also consider a new motherboard?

It seems the issue might be related to the motherboard rather than the RAM, as it suggests a dead memory channel. After trying to reinsert the CPU, did you inspect the socket for bent pins or any debris? While it's technically possible a dead CPU was present, a faulty motherboard is more likely. I recommend initiating the RMA process to obtain a new motherboard, assuming the socket and CPU pads appear undamaged.

Be very cautious not to bend pins while inserting AMD CPUs into their slots. If you attribute the issue to the seller claiming they were bent, request a return authorization with a rating of 1.

I examined every pin and everything looks okay. The concern is whether the red DRAM indicator would light up if you connected just one stick into the functional channel A.

It will activate during memory exercises, yet it should deactivate. If it remains on continuously, there might be an issue. I’d consider returning the motherboard for repair.

Learning to remember information on an AMD system can be quite slow.
