I purchased a gigabyte aero oled laptop expecting a cheaper model and upgraded it with an SSD and more RAM. Reading reviews suggested others had done similar upgrades without problems, so I assumed it would work fine. After installing the parts, everything failed to boot. Since it’s been a long time since I modified anything, I assumed I made a mistake. I brought it back to the store because fixing it myself isn’t feasible right now and hiring a technician is too costly. It turns out the technician couldn’t fix it because the components aren’t compatible with the laptop, even though they share the same NVMe M2 2280 format and similar RAM specs.

Have you considered putting the SSD in without the RAM or swapping them around?

The technician at the store where I bought it confirmed it wouldn’t work. Eventually, I purchased RAM and an SSD that matched, but had to pay twice as much overall for a Samsung Evo 970 and crucial RAM that fit my previous specs. My question is why a Samsung SSD would function with a silicon power unit? The same applies to the RAM—both seem to match the specs of the working components, yet I assumed brand shouldn’t matter.
