This problem has created quite a stir. My MSI B350M gaming pro features a Ryzen 5 1500X and a 1050Ti from Zotac. The system resets unexpectedly during both gaming and regular use. I assumed a BIOS issue since I hadn’t updated it in a while. I downloaded the newest non-beta BIOS from MSI (they also had beta versions but skipped them) and used the M-Flash utility. The update finished successfully, but now it won’t post or display a debug LED—showing either boot failure or missing device. Can I restore the BIOS? I don’t have a dual BIOS switch to assist. Prior to this, I cleaned the RAM and GPU contacts, re-seated the CPU, swapped out the power supply, and even disconnected the hard drives, yet it still resets.
It would launch into Windows and then immediately perform a hard reset, even within the BIOS settings.
Before altering your system settings, review your Windows event logs to identify the issue. Likely performed a fresh installation of Windows. Most cases stem from contacting MSI support. They often provide guidance on bios updates and successful procedures. Frequent resets could result from power supply problems, though rare.
I also looked into the Windows logs with powercfg commands, but they didn’t help. Is there any chance to restore the BIOS?
If the motherboard only contained a 64MB BIOS chip, support for older CPUs might be removed when users intend to use only a Ryzen 3000 processor. You may find a nearby PC repair shop willing to test various CPUs in it, potentially restoring functionality. Reach out to MSI for assistance. Alternatively, obtaining a replacement BIOS chip from another source could allow someone to install it and fix the issue.
The BIOS release list needs more details throughout; MSI offers top B450 boards, especially since some run USB BIOS without a CPU. It might help to continue reaching out to their support until the issue is fixed.
