Hello everyone. My previous motherboard for the 12th Gen Intel CPU stopped working (perhaps that’s another thread to discuss). I purchased several parts to replace it. The list of items bought includes exchanges because they weren’t functioning properly: Motherboard ATX MSI Pro B850-S WiFi6E SktAM5, AMD Ryzen 5 8500G, AMD Ryzen 5 8600G, 2x Kingston Fury Beast 16GB (1x16GB) DDR5-5600MHz, and updated BIOS on both boards (using XMP at 5600 MHz except for older memory tests). The most unusual finding during troubleshooting was that the board wouldn’t boot with the memory slots 1 and/or 3—three beeps, no start. However, it could use 48GB in slots 1+2+3 (three 16GB modules) which matched the one I had from my 12th Gen Intel for testing similar chips. There seems to be no known limitation stating this platform can’t work with memory only in slots 1 and/or 3. With new modules in slots 2 and 4, I experienced regular BSODs—sometimes within a minute, sometimes hours. With just one memory in slot 4, the behavior resembled having two in slots 2 and 4. With a single memory in slot 2, it started fine but recently became more frequent. As described, any mix of slots 1 and 3 results in three beeps and no boot. It works temporarily with XMP 4800 and new modules in slots 2 and 4; I’m fairly certain I’ve tried XMP 5200 and the same issues with 5600. Exchange history: First, the shop claimed the first board was faulty (I’m not sure), then they exchanged it; both new boards were priced higher and had better specs due to limited stock. I’ve tested various power supplies, used a dedicated graphics card (RTX 3070), installed Windows 11 in a different NVMe, tried inside and outside the ATX case, ran Memtest86+, but no errors. BSODs appear randomly, mostly following the sequence I’ve observed recently. - Cheers.
