I've just assembled my new PC with an R9 7950x and RTX 3090. Despite that, some games still crash, especially when the RAM is at 5600MHz or higher. The issue seems linked to memory speed—when it runs at 4800MHz everything works, but at higher speeds it freezes after about 20 minutes. The high-speed RAM was enabled with EXPO II in the BIOS. Most games don’t show any error messages during crashes. To stabilize your system, you might want to check if the RAM is properly seated or consider upgrading to a faster memory type.

Asus might be experiencing unusual RAM problems linked to older BIOS versions. The latest BIOS update seems to resolve the issue for many users. Have you installed the newest BIOS?

Before proceeding, run OCCT or Memtest64 to confirm your memory is stable. Let the tests continue for a while—about an hour—to check for errors. If issues appear, adjust speed and timing until you achieve consistency. This step is time-consuming but necessary. You might find helpful tutorials on tuning memory to master the process.

Did you run a memory test with memtest? The 6000MT RAM isn’t quite meeting the spec for your CPU, which could affect performance. Verify the installation follows the recommended configuration (usually 2 or 4 sticks). Are you using two or four modules? With four, speeds and timing might differ from two. Consider whether EXPO is properly configured. If tests show issues but no errors were found, newer BIOS or chipset drivers might resolve it; otherwise, you may need to adjust timings or lower clock speeds.

The issue likely stems from the memory errors even at prime numbers like 95 when running at high frequencies, though it didn’t report problems at lower speeds. I’ll run MemTest 64 at both 6000Mhz and 5600Mhz to see what findings come up.

6000Mhz is definitely outside the recommended range but most people agree it's ideal. It's still odd that 5600Mhz causes problems, even though I'm using two sticks in the right slots as per the manual. I'll run Memtest64 at both speeds and let you know the results, plus I'll update the BIOS.
