So this is a new computer, just installed the OS and need the internet to update some of my drivers but the thing is it says it can't find a network adapter. What do I do to fix this. The ethernet cable from the router is plugged in right into my computer. I really hope the problem isn't windows 8.1 not being compatible with my router.

Ensure the LAN drivers are present. You may need to install them via the driver disk or transfer them onto a USB drive from another computer.

Do you possess another machine? You can download the drivers for it, transfer them to the other device, and then set them up.

Planned to switch to Windows 10, but when I purchased the operating system it wasn’t available yet.

I was a bit puzzled about what a driver disk was, especially since this was my first time and I had to search online for LAN drivers. Do I need a particular driver for it, or is it similar to what someone with an 8.1 model would use?

Find the appropriate driver for your motherboard. A dedicated section will appear on the product page.

Thanks in advance! It really did take some time to locate it. - I checked the CD manual to find its location.
