Problems with hibernation on Ubuntu
Hey everyone, I'm using a ThinkPad x230 with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. When the machine wakes from hibernation, it crashes immediately. The screen appears briefly, then turns black, even after being idle for a while. I just reinstalled Ubuntu, and before that it worked perfectly. I don’t know what changed since it was a clean install. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated! Thanks.
I did that just to keep working on my assignments, but I really wanted to start sleeping. I’m moving quickly and I don’t want my device draining power while it’s off. Since most of my tasks are online, there were moments when I left my laptop unattended for weeks and found it was dead. I set it up so that closing the lid puts it into hibernation.
Hibernation problems on Linux can be quite complex due to proprietary hardware and binary drivers. The GPU is often a likely culprit, though other factors may apply. A solution might exist but will depend on your hardware and distribution. Consider seeking advice from Ubuntu-focused communities. For troubleshooting, share the results of 'inxi -Fxz', 'lspci', and 'lsusb' here.
